Somerset Cider Solutions has optimized its production process by integrating Anton Paar’s Flex-Blend 3500 blending system. The result is a more compact process line, automated monitoring, and measurable reductions in energy, water, and CO₂ consumption. Alongside major cost savings, the system has enhanced carbonation control and improved product quality – supporting both sustainable growth and operational efficiency.
“The Flex-Blend 3500 has allowed us to redesign our processing facility, dramatically increasing efficiency while delivering major cost and energy savings.”

Redesigning the process for higher efficiency
With the Flex-Blend 3500, Somerset Cider Solutions redesigned its processing facility into a more compact and efficient production line. Continuous monitoring via DAVIS software enables real-time visibility of key parameters, while integrated sensors improve quality control during filling.
Measurable cost and energy savings
The new setup delivered a rapid return on investment, with annual savings exceeding the system cost. By eliminating an inefficient pump and a carbonation tank, the company reduced CO2 usage and achieved energy savings of more than 25 %, along with a 24 % reduction in CO2 consumption – over 30 tons per year.
Saving time and valuable resources
Water usage dropped by 3 m³ per day, CIP time was shortened by nearly an hour, and caustic consumption decreased by 10 %. Faster product changeovers further improved production flexibility.
Improved quality and sustainability
Enhanced carbonation control enables consistent production of ciders, soft drinks, and ready-to-drink cocktails. Reduced energy demand and lower CO2 usage contribute to a more sustainable packaging and production process.
