UV Cell

  UV Cell
The UV cell is used to measure the curing behavior of materials that are sensitive to UV light, e.g. printing inks, powder coatings or dental fillings. The UV light source can be triggered automatically by the rheometer software during the measurement.
The sample temperature is controlled by a Peltier system in the lower plate and a Peltier heated hood.
Combined with a suitable camera system, rheo-optical measurements are possible as well.

IRS

  Interfacial Rheology System - IRS
The IRS in combination with a bi-cone measuring system allows you to measure the steady state and transient interfacial shear viscosity and elastic properties of liquid-liquid or air liquid interfaces. The properties of interfacial layers can be studied.

SALS

Small Angle Light Scattering System - Rheo SALS
The Rheo SALS allows you to simultaneously determine rheological data and structural information. The macroscopic behavior is represented by the rheological data. The microscopic structural parameters can be measured using the light scattering technique (polarized and depolarized scattering). The SALS setup is a modular system consisting of the laser block, the measuring cell with cylinder and plate-plate system, the focusing optics and the detection unit.

Rheo-
Microscope

  Rheo-Microscope
The combination of microscopy and rheological measurements allows to visualize the effect of shear and deformation on the structure of the sample. The microscope consists of a CCD camera, a lense and an integrated light source, that illuminates the sample from below. The combination with a Peltier heated hood ensures accurate temperature control of the sample.

MRD

  Magneto Rheological Device - MRD
The Magneto Rheological Device MRD is used to investigate the influence of a magnetic field on the rheological properties of magnetorheological fluids in oscillation and rotation. The magnetic flux density can be set from the software, automatic demagnetization after the measurement is also available.
For structural tests in oscillation it is recommended to used the option 'Direct Strain Oscillation (DSO)'. This ensures investigations only within the often narrow linear viscoelastic range of magnetorheological fluids.

ERD

  Electro Rheological Device - ERD
The ERD is a cylinder measuring system for measuring liquid samples with rheological properties which are influenced by electric fields. A variable voltage (0 to 12 500 V) can be applied to the sample.

IMC

  Immobilization Cell - IMC
The cell is used to investigate the immobilization kinetics and the water retention of paper coatings. The simulation of process conditions enables the user to optimize the paper coating recipes and improve quality control routines.

MTS

  Ball Measuring System - MTS
The Ball Measuring System is used to measure samples with very large particles in rotation. Due to the outstanding shear rate control of the MCR series it is possible to measure a full flow curve with just one revolution of the excentrically rotating sphere. This system is used, for example, for building materials and also for foods such as jam or puddings.

SER

  SER Extensional Rheology System
The extensional rheology system SER, developed by Dr. Martin Sentmanat (Xpansion Instruments), in combination with the CTD600 and CTD450 chamber turns the Physica MCR into a a universal testing platform for extensional rheology. The SER can be used for extensional measurements on filled and unfilled polymers, on solids and melts over a large temperature and deformation range. Extension measurements as well as tensile testing, pear and peel tests, friction tests and creep measurements become possible with a conventional rheometer.

T-PTD200

  Tribology Cell
The tribology cell T-PTD200 turns the Physica MCR into a tribometer. The lubricating properties of grease and oil are measured with a ball-on-three-plates system where both the base plates and the rotating ball are exchangeable so that different materials can be used. The results of tribological measurements can be displayed as the Stribeck curve or static friction test. Peltier temperature control offers a temperature range from -40 ºC to +200 ºC.
