Where measurement is really measurement: The real gap - TruGap™

 

 

For the first time it is possible to really measure and control the measuring gap in cone-and-plate or parallel-plate measurements – using TruGap™.

TruGap™ is based on a revolutionary new measuring method (US Patent 6,499,336) and enables exact control of the measuring gap.

Conventionally used techniques rely on calculating the thermal expansion of the individual system components and adjusting the gap size based on this calculated correction factor. TruGap™ measures the real gap continuously and adjusts it to the required distance quickly and exactly.

The result: Even more accurate measurement results from a universally applicable, extremely flexible rheometer which guarantees the correct gap size independent of the measuring procedure and therefore considerably simplifies handling. There is now an alternative to traditional compensation models – consistently correct gap control with TruGap™.

 

Advantages

 
  • The measuring gap is measured and precisely controlled directly in the gap.
  • Changed measuring parameters, different temperature ramps, new measuring geometries or unstable ambient conditions have no negative effect on the accuracy of the measuring gap set in the rheometer.
  • TruGap™ works over a wide temperature range and with temperature ramps using different heating rates.
  • The measuring gap can be determined independent of the test type at all times. 
  • For the first time it is possible to carry out successful temperature-dependent measurements on polymers with cone/plate geometries.
