Top beverage analysis systems from Anton Paar: Determination of quality parameters such as original extract, alcohol, extract, CO2, O2, °Brix, degree of inversion and pH value, etc are important for quality control in breweries and soft drink bottling plants. Beverage analysis is not always straightforward but always essential: If the dissolved oxygen content in beverages is too high this results in oxidation products which have a negative impact on the taste and shelf life of the beverage. Sugar inversion makes the measurement of beverage samples made with sugar from sugar beet or sugar cane more difficult, to mention just a few examples. Beverage analysis systems from Anton Paar meet all these requirements using state-of-the-art measuring systems.
The benefits of beverage analysis systems speak for themselves:

Beverage analysis systems from Anton Paar: Quicker and more reliable than previous routine analysis systems.
PBA-S (Packaged Beverage Analyzer for Soft Drinks) and PBA-SI (Packaged Beverage Analyzer for Soft Drinks/Inversion) are measuring systems for the analysis of soft drinks directly out of glass bottles, PET bottles or cans. The main measuring results are the sugar content (°Brix) and the dissolved CO2 content (g/L or vol.) of the samples. While PBA-S can be used for samples without sugar inversion, PBA-SI can also analyze samples with sugar inversion.
PBA-S combines three Anton Paar instruments:
The main application of PBA-S is the precise determination of °Brix and CO2 in non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the concentration of dissolved air (sum of N2 and O2), package pressure, and the sample temperature are measured.
The sample is taken directly out of beverage packages and measured under pressure to prevent the loss of CO2. PBA-S simultaneously measures the density and the CO2 concentration and converts the density automatically into the °Brix value.
There is no need to degas the sample prior to the measurement because the influence of the dissolved CO2 on the density reading is compensated automatically.
In PBA-SI, a Soft Drink Analyzer M/P instead of the DMA M density meter is used as the master instrument. The Soft Drink Analyzer M/P combines a high-precision density measuring cell with a sound velocity measuring cell in one instrument.
Using the density and the sound velocity of the sample, the current °Brix and inversion status of the sample can be fully characterized. PBA-SI calculates the °Brix of the fresh sample, the °Brix of the fully inverted sample and the current degree of inversion at the time of the measurement. The influence of dissolved CO2 on the density and the sound velocity are corrected automatically.
CarboQC ME can be delivered with an additional optical O2 sensor for the determination of dissolved oxygen in the beverage sample. For retrofitting an O2 sensor into existing CarboQC ME modules, contact your Anton Paar distributor. The pH ME measuring module can also be added to the PBA-S/PBA-SI.
