Tribology Cell - Measurement of Friction, Lubrication and Wear

The tribology cell turns the Physica MCR rheometers into a tribometer based on the ball-on-3-plates principle. The setup consists of a half-inch ball attached to a shaft and a bottom stage clamping three rectangular friction partners. The bottom stage is movable in all three dimensions, ensuring equal load on all contact points. The excellent speed and torque control of the rheometer allow Stribeck curve and static friction measurements of oils and greases as well as wear measurements on one single instrument.
