Evaluating Colloidal Stability with the Litesizer 500

Evaluating Colloidal Stability with the Litesizer 500

Colloidal stability is an important parameter for the coatings, pharmaceutical, petroleum, food, and many other industries. It can be evaluated via measurement of the particle zeta potential (ZP). A greater ZP implies greater static charge repulsion and thus greater resistance to particle agglomeration. Application examples will be shown, and recent work where fundamental forces and mechanisms, which drive the stability of titania nanosheets functionalized with polyelectrolytes, were investigated with dynamic light scattering and ZP measurements taken by a Litesizer 500 will be discussed.
