We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Australian Coatings Show 2026, at the Pullman Albert Park!
Anton Paar offers a comprehensive portfolio of instruments for characterizing paints and coatings throughout the complete life cycle - from the raw materials (liquids, powders, suspensions) to the finished product (surfaces, solids).

How can Anton Paar help? Gain practical understanding into the scientific principles that shape coating performance. Each topic below helps you diagnose issues, optimise processes, and improve formulation reliability.
Rheology essentials
Learn how viscosity and rheology influence application, leveling, sag resistance, and long‑term stability. Understand how to interpret rheology data to improve formulation consistency.
Particle shape and size
See how particle size distribution, shape and zeta potential affects opacity, gloss, colour strength, and durability. Discover how to identify dispersion issues early and optimise milling and mixing processes.
Chemical analysis
Explore how FTIR and Raman spectroscopy techniques reveal structural and chemical information that helps you troubleshoot formulation drift, contamination, and raw‑material variability.
Indentation and Scratch Testing
Use instrumented indentation and scratch techniques to check the quality of your finished coating, as well as mar or resistance to wear and tear.
Meet our Product Manager - Dr. Ashish Kumar Dr. Ashish Kumar is the Sales & Product Manager (Business Unit Characterisation) at Anton Paar Australia and New Zealand. The Characterisation portfolio includes Rheometry, Particle Sizing, Surface Area and Porosity, Scratch, Indentation, Tribology, Raman & FTIR Spectroscopy, XRD and SAXS. He is responsible for product management, marketing, technical support, application development, and delivering educational content for the different product lines, and has been since 2013. He holds a PhD in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from The University of Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) and has 18 years of rheology experience, five of those in the field of mineral processing and tailings disposal.
Book a coffee catchup!
You can also book a 1:1 session with Dr. Ashish Kumarto discuss your coating challenges. Follow the registration link at the bottom of this page. Every registration includes a free download of our Building Materials e‑book and automatic entry into a draw to win a silicon oil standard for your rotational viscometer.
Listen to the talk: Rheology of Paints & Coatings – A Short Course.
Discover how rheology shapes the performance of paints and coatings. This short course cuts through the jargon to show you why flow behaviour matters — from smooth spraying and brushing to film quality and long‑term stability. With applications, and clear take‑home tips, you’ll learn how to select additives, measure viscosity and thixotropy, and solve common coating challenges. Whether you’re in R&D, production, QC or formulation – there is something for everyone!
