In this course, participants will learn about the theory of light scattering and the relevance of size and morphology in particle characterization. The principles of laser diffraction and image analysis will be covered, as well as understanding the pros and cons between the two techniques and advantages of choosing one over the other. In the afternoon, participants will have hands-on experience with both instruments, the Litesizer DIF (laser diffraction) and the Litesizer DIA series (dynamic image analysis). After these experiments, data interpretation and analysis will be discussed in small groups. 

Requirements:

Ideally suited for professionals active in material sciences, particle formulation and processing.

Dr. Amir Zaim

Dr. Amir Zaim, born in 1983, obtained his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Geneva in 2013 with a focus on synthesis and characterization of rare-earth scaffolds followed by obtaining his Master of Business Administration in 2019 to complement his scientific background with an understanding of market development. Since 2018, Dr. Zaim has joined Anton Paar Switzerland in developing the microwave synthesis and particle characterization instrument portfolio and is eager to share his passion for science and customer relationship to provide potential prospects with specific solution-driven solutions and services.
