Know your sample’s operability under cold conditions
Cold flow property testers from Anton Paar determine the lowest temperature at which a diesel fuel or heating oil is expected to provide trouble-free operation – the so-called cold filter plugging point. By also determining the cloud and pour point, you can reliably assess your sample’s ability to freely flow through a vehicle’s filters despite low temperatures.

Determination of the cold filter plugging point (CFPP)
The CFPP tester from Anton Paar determines the low-temperature operability of diesel fuels and blends. With decreasing temperatures wax crystals will begin to precipitate from the diesel sample until the amount of precipitate is sufficient to block the fuel flow through the filter. For a complete picture of your samples’ cold flow properties, you can also use the automatic CFPP tester for manual cloud and pour point measurements.
Determination of the cloud and pour point (CAPP)
The cloud point is the temperature at which a cloud of hydrocarbon crystals becomes visible in a sample. The pour point is the lowest temperature at which a sample retains its flowing properties before freezing. The CAPP is important for many petroleum products, especially crude oil and liquid fuel.
Anton Paar offers a compact CFPP tester that is fully automated and operated via a user-friendly touchscreen interface. The Peltier cooling system, the error-free infrared detection system and the automatic cleaning program provide perfect results in high throughput, which can be traced live on the screen.
Reduced costs through Peltier cooling
The automated CFPP tester features a state-of-the-art Peltier cooling concept. This means you can have the instrument reach a jacket temperature as low as -70 °C by using an inexpensive methanol-free chiller system which will only support the Peltier elements.

The applicable CFPP standards are ASTM D6371, EN 116, EN 16329, JIS K 2288 and IP 309.
