From Powder to Product: Density as a Key Parameter Throughout the Entire Process
Density measurements are a fast and versatile tool for characterizing liquid, semi-solid, and particulate products.
The bulk, tap, and skeletal densities of milk powders were measured. These measurements were combined with liquid density measurements of the dispersed powders. The measurements reveal differences in the flow behavior of the powders that are related to differences in particle size. The results were confirmed by particle size and rheological analysis. The porosities of an effervescent tablet and a coated tablet were calculated from the skeletal density and bulk density.
