Determining Flow Behavior of Shampoo

The following report shows how rest and flow behavior of shampoo can be determined and evaluated with a rotational Modular Compact Rheometer (MCR) from Anton Paar.

1 Introduction

As a customer buying a shampoo, one expects it to have a good, fragrant cleansing performance. Initially, one would not think flow behavior is equally important. Only when the product doesn’t come out of the bottle or runs through the fingers uncontrollably, it becomes clear that flow behavior is essential to customer satisfaction.

However, having knowledge of flow behavior is important for the manufacturer not only from the point of view of customer satisfaction. It is also important to know product viscosity when designing process facilities.

This reports shows how flow behavior of shampoo can be measured and analyzed using an MCR rheometer.
