Chemistry | Chlor-alkali | Optimization of the chlor-alkali process by online concentration measurements

Accurate concentration and flow control of HCl, NaOH and other byproducts throughout the chlor-alkali process is necessary for time- and cost-saving operation and can be achieved with Anton Paar's process sensors L-Dens 7400, L-Sonic 5100 and L-Cor 8000.

Chlor-alkali process

Hydrochloric acid (HCl) and caustic soda (NaOH) are some of the most widely used chemicals worldwide, produced by means of the chlor-alkali process. An accurate monitoring of the HCl and NaOH concentrations at different production steps throughout the entire chlor-alkali process is essential.
An inline measurement is used for the final concentration measurement of the finished products to meet quality requirements, safety, and charging. In addition, the correct water dosage in critical process steps is controlled by an inline measurement.
