Determination of Sample Temperature Using a Temperature Sensor Integrated in a Measuring System in SMT and Counter-Movement Modes

This report shows the construction and advantages of lower measuring systems with integrated temperature sensors for Modular Compact Rheometers (MCR) from Anton Paar with an additional lower drive.

1 Introduction

Temperature determination is of fundamental importance for rheological characterization, since minimal temperature deviations can have significant influence on the rheological properties of the examined sample. When working with a Convection Temperature Device (CTD) and a double-motor MCR, the temperature is typically measured with an external Pt100, which is not located directly at the measuring gap.
