Material Brief: Pigments - Skeletal Density - Ultrapyc
A pigment was analyzed using nitrogen gas on the Ultrapyc 3000 to measure the skeletal density.
To calculate the theoretical powder coating density and non-volatile film density, you must know the skeletal density of the components of the coating powder. This can be compared to the density of the coating powder blend of resin, pigments, fillers, and additives – as blended, after storage, and after curing. Any differences in density of the blend can indicate subtle differences in formulation, such as resin-to-pigment ratio.
The Anton Paar Ultrapyc 3000 was used to analyze a polymeric pigment for determination of the skeletal density.
