Material Brief: Porous Ceramic (Honeycomb Monolith) – Pore Size Distribution – PoreMaster

Ceramic honeycomb monolith specimens were analyzed using the PoreMaster 60 mercury intrusion analyzer. The pore volume and pore size distribution were obtained from the pressure volume intrusion curve generated by the instrument.

Porous ceramics cover a wide range of structures such as foams, honeycombs, interconnected rods, fibers, or hollow spheres. Their low density, low thermal conductivity, low dielectric constant, high specific strength and high chemical resistance make them very attractive for numerous industrial applications.

The PoreMaster 60 was used to analyze three honeycomb specimens. The pressure vs. intruded volume data was used to obtain pore size distributions.
