Determining the Flow Behavior of Coarse Dispersions
This report shows how flow behavior of dispersions with particle sizes in the range from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm can be measured using a Modular Compact Rheometer (MCR) from Anton Paar.
1 Introduction
Most test samples can be clearly distinguished from each other by viscosity measurements of their flow behavior. Especially in quality control, dynamic viscosity measurements are very well suited to guarantee consistent product quality as a manufacturer.
For coarse-grained dispersions, such as wall paints and putties, care must be taken that a measuring geometry with a large enough measuring gap is used. It is recommended to use a measuring gap at least five times greater than the largest particles in the sample.
The following demonstrates how paints and putties with coarse particles can be tested using an MCR rheometer from Anton Paar.
