Mechanical Thermal Behavior of PVC Based Strip Doors

The two samples of PVC-based strip doors used in cold storage houses were measured with regards to their material behavior. For forklifts it should be possible to pass these flexible strip doors with low resistance and without destruction of the lamella. The samples were measured with the MCR rheometer and the CTD temperature control device.

Introduction

The two samples of PVC-based strip doors used in cold storage houses were measured with regards to their material behavior. For forklifts it should be possible to pass these flexible strip doors with low resistance and without destruction of the lamella. The materials must be sufficiently strong and flexible at low temperatures.

The material has to withstand the impact of the forklift every time it passes the door and at the same time it must be flexible. The loss factor tan( ) and the storage modulus G' are important variables for describing the mechanical properties and thermal behavior of the PVC.
