The setting behaviour of free flowing composite with a normal and a reduced proportion of setting retarder

The effect of a reduction in the proportion of setting retarder on the setting characteristics of free flowing composite floors is to be examined. The viscosity-time curves were measured using an Anton Paar MCR rheometer with the ball measuring system

Introduction

The effect of a reduction in the proportion of setting retarder on the setting characteristics of free flowing composite floors is to be examined. Two aspects are important:

  • influence of the setting time
  • influence of the flow behavior before the actual setting

Experimental Setup

To test the setting behavior of two samples of free flowing composite floors, one with a normal level of setting retarder, the other with a reduced level, the viscosity-time curves were measured using an Anton Paar MCR rheometer with the ball measuring system. The ball measuring system KMS-1 is used to measure the free flowing composite floor (ball diameter dK = 12 mm). For this test it must be ensured that the given rotational speed (and therefore the shear rate) does not disrupt the setting process.
