Viscosity and other thermo-physical properties of the molten salts and their mixtures are of utmost importance for the process design of electrolytical processes and power production. This contribution summarizes research on a rotational rheometry method for the characterization of viscosity and solidification behavior of salt melts in a simple and reliable way. Not only temperature dependent behavior of viscosity, but also the influence of additives on the salt are investigated.
