Oxidation Stability of Diesel

The oxidation stability of diesel is an important indicator for its shelf life and for the quality control of the product composition. With Anton Paar’s RapidOxy 100 Fuel you can test diesel samples with strict fulfillment of the standard methods ASTM D7525, ASTM D7545 and EN 16091 or with parameters suitable for your research.

Introduction

This Application Report shows two studies of diesel fuel measurement with the RapidOxy 100 Fuel. First, the temperature dependency of the induction period for diesel fuel samples was investigated. The second examination was on the influence of ignition improvers – mainly EHN (2-ethylhexyl nitrate) – on the oxidation stability of diesel fuel samples. Cetane improvers are frequently used for diesel fuels to increase the Cetane number.
