Monitoring of sulfate by-products in lubrication oil by direct trending

Sulfate by-products are a sign of degradation of in-service lubrication oil. Monitoring these levels according to ASTM D7415 with Lyza 7000 leads to less downtime of the machinery and makes necessary oil changes plannable.

Sulfate by-products are formed during usage of engine oils. The sulfate content increases due to oxidation of sulfur in the oil and indicates a degradation process.
The key to employ lubrication oil as long as possible, and to replace it when necessary is to monitor the sulfate by-product levels with FTIR spectroscopy.
