Material Brief: Zeolite – Low Temperature and Pressure CO2 Adsorption – iSorb HP and CryoCooler

Researchers are exploring the possibility of zeolites existing on Mars and their role in the Martian water cycle. To further this exploration, scientists need to measure adsorption capacities at relevant low temperature and pressure conditions.

The iSorb HP coupled with the CryoCooler accessory was used to measure CO2 adsorption isotherms up to 1 bar at temperatures below the CO2 critical point (-60 and -50 °C) to simulate Martian conditions. The isosteric heat of adsorption was calculated from the two measured isotherms. The iSorb HP coupled with the CryoCooler accessory was used to measure CO2 adsorption isotherms up to 1 bar at temperatures below the CO2 critical point (-60 and -50 °C) to simulate Martian conditions.
