Material Brief: Tobacco - Skeletal Density - Ultrapyc 3000

Tobacco leaves and fibrous filter material from commercially available cigarettes were analyzed using nitrogen gas on the Ultrapyc 3000. The skeletal density was calculated.

An important property of the cigarette components is the skeletal density, which can give insight into the curing and dehydrating/re-hydrating processes for the tobacco leaf and into the density and porosity of the filter. The Anton Paar Ultrapyc 3000 was used to analyze the skeletal density of the components from commercially-available cigarettes.
