Material Brief: Platinum on Alumina - Active Metal Area & Dispersion - Autosorb Series

A 2 wt % platinum on alumina supported metal catalyst was analyzed using both CO static volumetric and CO pulse titration chemisorption techniques on the Autosorb. Active metal area and percent dispersion were calculated from the data.

To understand the potential of the platinum on alumina catalyst, chemical characterization for active metal area and dispersion is crucial. An Autosorb series instrument was used to characterize a commercially-available platinum on alumina catalyst with CO gas using static volumetric and pulse titration experiments, to compare the data. From the measured monolayer value, the active metal area and % metal dispersion were calculated.
