Density measurement of infusion solutions in hospital pharmacies
Density measurement is a powerful and important method to ensure in-process control (IPC) and quality control of final products in pharmaceutical production facilities or, more specific, in a hospital pharmacy’s daily routine.
About infusion solutions
In general, infusion solutions may be considered as quasi-binary mixtures. They may contain several ingredients, but only one component (e.g. the solvent) mainly determines the total density.
In the production of infusions, precise weighing of all ingredients guarantees a constant mixing ratio. The mixture of the ingredients is always the same, and only the solvent (here: water) is the component that varies.
