Wine making starts in the vineyard. Grape maturity tests are essential to determine the right time for harvest.


The grape passes various stages of development during ripening – at the peak of this development, the grapes are sweet with low levels of acidity, filled with juice and not affected by mold or rot. It is essential for every winemaker to harvest the grapes when they are at the peak of ripeness. However, the right time for harvest is different every year and changes with the weather and environmental conditions which influence the grape vines. Therefore maturity tests are necessary every year.
