ASC-RT | Combined Raman and Microwave System: Monitoring a fast Synthesis of Ionic Liquids
The synthesis of new molecules is often sped up under high temperature and high pressure as provided by a microwave system. Raman spectroscopy is a helpful tool to monitor the progress and to determine reaction mechanism of such fast chemical reactions in situ.
To demonstrate the potential of a combined microwave and Raman setup, this report shows in situ reaction monitoring of an ionic liquid formation using a Monowave 400 R microwave synthesis reactor and a Cora 5001 Fiber Raman spectrometer. This model system was chosen as an example for a fast synthesis of highly polar substances.
