Inks | Rotational Viscosity Testing of Dye-Based Inks
Ink-viscosity plays an important role in governing the overall print quality. ViscoQC 100/300 in conjunction with PTD 100 Cone-Plate and CP40 measuring system enables low-viscosity measurements of dye-based inks at high shear-rates.
Inkjet printing represents a wide range of industrial applications. The performance during printing and the quality of the print on the substrate are highly linked to the rheological behavior and the viscosity of the ink. Key parameters such as drop formation during jetting, drop spreading, liquid penetration and surface coverage are directly linked to the viscosity which is in turn governed by the composition of the ink. Inkjet technologies generally use very low-viscosity inks, typically bellow 20 mPa∙s, depending on the type of the printhead. While the majority of inkjet inks exhibit Newtonian behavior, formulations with non-Newtonian rheological properties are also employed for specific applications.
Therefore, multiple tests were conducted with ViscoQC 100/300-L and PTD 100 Cone Plate which is an excellent choice in measuring low viscosity inks and determining flow behavior with low sample volume.
