Cleaning Recommendations for Anton Paar DMA Instruments

Careful cleaning of the U-tube oscillators of digital density meters is of crucial importance for good results. Adhering to a few cleaning procedures ensures accurate results and a long life expectancy of a DMA density meter.

Introduction

The oscillators of DMA instruments are made of high-quality DURAN borosilicate glass (except for DMA 4200 M and DMA HPM) and should never be cleaned by brush, pipe cleaner, or any other mechanical means. All residues and contaminants have to be removed by rinsing only. Therefore the proper choice of cleaning liquid for each specific sample will make cleaning faster and measurements more accurate.

This short note contains some basic principles of how to find suitable cleaning agents, and some ideas on how to make the cleaning procedure most effective.
