Using low pressure mode on the iSorb HP for surface area and pore volume analysis
A commercially available activated carbon was analyzed using the iSorb HP low-pressure mode for structural characterization information, including the micropore BET area and pore volume by density functional theory (DFT). The results were compared to those from a dedicated low-pressure instrument.
In this report, structural characterization of a microporous carbon was performed on the iSorb HP instrument with nitrogen at 77 K. Surface area and pore volume are determined and compared to values obtained from the characterization of the same sample in a low-pressure physisorption instrument with similar low-pressure capabilities (to compare the data quality obtained when analyzing in low-pressure mode).
