Food, Beverage, Pharma | Flow Curve Tests on the Example of Clinical Nourishments
The rotational rheometer RheolabQC can measure flow curves of low viscous food samples over a wide shear rate range. Such flow curves on the example of different medical drinks are shown in this report.
Clinical nourishments are needed for a wide range of applications. Two examples are nutritional drinks with a high energy, protein and fat content for the treatment of malnutrition or thickened fluids for managing swallowing disorders. Such a thickened fluid can be obtained by adding a shear thickening agent to a low viscous fluid. This report shows how such fluids can be characterized via flow and viscosity curves by using rotational rheometers like RheolabQC. It can measure flow behavior and therefore ensure customer satisfaction.
All measurements were performed with an Anton Paar RheolabQC with the double gap measuring system DG42 which was developed for the measurement of low viscous samples. The measurement was performed at 37 °C with the Peltier temperature device C-PTD 180/AIR/QC for quick and accurate temperature control
