Reliable Measurement of the Oil Absorption Number According to YBT 6139.2-2023

Anton Paar’s AbsorptoMeter C enables a reliable and reproducible Oil Absorption Number (OAN) measurement of battery-grade graphite in line with the Chinese standard YB/T 6139.2-2023 by setting the required parameters with only a few clicks.

The performance and processability of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) strongly depend on the properties of their electrode materials—especially graphite used in the negative electrode. One key parameter for evaluating graphite powders is the Oil Absorption Number (OAN), which indicates how much liquid a powder can absorb. With the introduction of the Chinese standard YB/T 6139.2-2023, linseed oil has to be used for safe and standardized OAN measurement of graphite materials. Following this standard, Anton Paar’s AbsorptoMeter C measures the OAN reliably, repeatably, and reproducibly.
