Breakthrough analysis with the Autosorb 6300

An Autosorb 6300 was modified to achieve rapid switching of the gas composition from argon to a helium/carbon dioxide mixture prior to performing a breakthrough analysis on a commercial adsorbent for carbon capture.

Breakthrough analyses are a common way to characterize adsorbents under dynamic conditions. They provide an ideal simulation of real-life applications—such as direct air capture or continuous effluent purification—because they allow quantification of gas capacity and the study of diffusion limitations that may hinder practical performance.
