High throughput TPX measurements using the Autosorb 3300

This report shows that up to seven TPD measurements, reaching 950 °C, can be performed back-to-back on a single Autosorb 3300 instrument in a standard eight-hour workday while taking no safety shortcuts in the cooling steps.

The throughput of conventional TPX instruments is often limited by the thermal inertia of the furnace, not by the analytical measurement itself. Traditional furnaces typically require long cooling periods between analyses, forcing users to either wait extended periods of time or manually open the furnace and remove hot samples before the next experiment can begin. The Autosorb 3300 addresses these limitations through its uniquely designed, built-in liquid-cooled furnace system. Unlike conventional air-cooled or passively cooled furnaces, the Autosorb 3300 furnace is engineered to deliver rapid heating and exceptionally fast cooling without requiring the sample to be removed or the furnace to be opened. This design dramatically reduces turnaround time between experiments, enabling a substantially higher number of analyses per day while maintaining stable and reproducible operating conditions.
