In order to produce impeccable electrodes via the emerging novel process route for dry battery electrodes (DBE) based on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibrillation it is essential to have a successfully fibrillated electrode powder. There are multiple raw material grades available, and the process parameters must be adjusted individually for each grade to achieve the necessary fibrillation. This report therefore demonstrates how a time-efficient shear cell test can be used to verify the fibrillation status of any electrode powder mixture.
