As part of the Chemistry Days 2024, organized by the Austrian Chemical Society (GÖCH) and the Graz University of Technology, Anton Paar received a special honour. On behalf of Anton Paar GmbH and Anton Paar Austria, Area Sales Manager Ines Kögler and FTIR Product Manager Daniel Vetter accepted the certificate of honor for 20 years of membership in the GÖCH. The award was presented by GÖCH President Prof. Dr. Peter Gärtner as thanks for the many years of partnership and cooperation.
Support for young chemists
The GÖCH is the leading chemical-scientific society in Austria and represents the interests of chemists in the country. Many members are active in academic research, such as students or employees at the chemistry institutes of Austrian universities. The GÖCH supports young scientists in particular through various sponsorships, such as travel grants, specialist lectures and excursions.
Some Anton Paar employees are chemists themselves and may have benefited from GÖCH initiatives during their studies. Hannes Schleifer, Department Manager Accredited Lab and Instrument Qualification, is one example: “I myself have been a member of GÖCH since I was a student and was also active in the organization for a long time as head of the then newly founded young chemists' working group. I got to know Ulrich Santner at a GÖCH event many years ago, which is also the reason why I have now been working for Anton Paar for over ten years,” says Schleifer. “It is important to promote this close connection between science and industry, especially as a measurement technology company – chemists are potential customers, but also possible future colleagues,” emphasizes Hannes Schleifer.
Excursion to the Anton Paar headquarters
At the end of the Chemistry Days 2024, a GÖCH excursion to the Anton Paar headquarters took place. The participants were given the opportunity to visit the presentation lab and the production facilities and gain a deeper insight into the company’s technologies and working methods.
