CO2 capture by temperature swing adsorption

This application report showcases the temperature swing adsorption of CO₂ on Lewatit, a commercial adsorbent.

Temperature swing adsorption (TSA) is a widely used industrial process for gas separation and purification in which an adsorbent packed in a fixed bed is alternately exposed to adsorption and regeneration conditions. This report highlights the cyclic adsorption and desorption of CO on a commercial adsorbent as a model for an industrial separation process. Experimentally, the approach is similar to a single-point flow BET measurement but conducted under milder temperatures and with a gas composition tailored to the target application rather than classical surface area determination. This adaptation allows the evaluation of dynamic adsorption performance under application-relevant conditions while maintaining precise control over temperature, flow, and detection.
