Material Brief: Lactose Powder – Tapped Density – Ultratap 500 series
Lactose powder was analyzed using the Ultratap 500. The tapped density was calculated from the data following published standard testing methods: USP 616 method 1, 2, and 3 | Ph. EU 2.9.34 method 1, 2, and 3 | JP 3.01 method 1, 2, and 3
Tapped density measurements are rapid and accurate and further calculations related to powder flow and compressibility, the Carr Compressibility Index and the Hausner Ratio, are readily computed. Procedures for measuring the tapped density of pharmaceutical powders are given in:
- USP 616
- EUP 2.9.34
- JP 3.01
The Anton Paar Ultratap 500 complies with these international standards and was used to measure lactose powder by the method given in the standards.
