Continuous Monitoring of Hydrogen Peroxide
Relevant for detergents/cleaners, descaling agent, beverages, food industry, pharmaceuticals, personal care

Production of hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is produced by hydrating anthraquinone to anthrahydroquinone in presence of a palladium catalyst. The oxygen (O2) is added which leads to H2O2 and anthraquinone as products. The peroxide is then extracted with water which is removed by distillation to obtain H2O2.
Process concentration measurement using L-Dens 7400
H2O2 is widely used for manifold applications such as bleaching of wood, hair and teeth, disinfection and sterilization in medicine and farming, as well as for etching processes of wafers together with sulfuric acid (“Piranha solution”). Anton Paar’s online density sensor L-Dens 7400 provides highly accurate (up to ± 0,07%) concentration measurement of hydrogen peroxide. This can be operated in concentration ranges from 0 to 95 % and at temperatures up to 100 °C.
Regardless of whether the H2O2 concentration after its production or in a plant for pulp bleaching is measured, L-Dens sensors ensure continuous and highly reliable monitoring of hydrogen peroxide. Furthermore L-Dens sensors are easy to integrate and offer continuous, fast and reliable results.
