Material Brief: Zeolite (ZSM-5) - Ammonia (NH3) Temperature Programmed Desorption - Autosorb 6300
Ammonium zeolite-ZSM-5 was analyzed by ammonia (NH3) temperature programmed desorption (TPD) on an Autosorb 6300 equipped with a thermal conductivity detector (TCD) and mass spectrometer (MS). Comparison between TCD and MS results and experimental details for acquiring meaningful results are provided.
The quantity and strength of acid sites are important in zeolite use, particularly in catalytic applications. The acid sites strongly affect the activity, selectivity, and hydrophilicity of catalysts. The gold standard analysis for acid site quantification is ammonia TPD. This material brief focuses on differences between TCD and MS signals recorded simultaneously for an ammonia TPD experiment performed on the Anton Paar Autosorb 6300.
