Student Assistant in Firmware Development C++ (f/m/x)

As a student employee, you will be part of an interdisciplinary development team and actively contribute to the firmware of our next generation of high precision measuring instruments. You will gain hands-on insights – from architecture and design through to implementation – and directly apply and deepen the knowledge acquired during your studies.
Responsibilities:
- Support in the development, implementation, and optimization of firmware for embedded systems (ARM Cortex M, STM32) in C/C++
- Assistance in the design and further development of firmware architectures for new measurement systems
- Strong affinity for the use of AI in the context of programming and agentic coding
- Collaboration with electronics developers on firmware related hardware topics
- Participation in testing and simple code reviews
- Support in documenting development progress
- Involvement in product development – from concept to series production
Your profile:
- Ongoing technical studies (University of Applied Sciences / University), e.g. Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Initial practical experience or strong interest in firmware development using C/C++
- Basic knowledge of microcontroller programming (ARM Cortex M) is an advantage
- Ideally first exposure to Python
- Basic knowledge of electronics (analog/digital) is an advantage
- Interest in common development tools (e.g. Git, debuggers, build systems)
- Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken
- Structured and reliable working style with a high willingness to learn

We offer a fair and market-aligned salary based on the collective agreement for employees in the metal trade – adjusted to the regional conditions of the Styrian labor market. The minimum gross monthly salary for this position is € 2.750 (based on full-time employment). What truly counts for us are your personality, your skills, and the experience you bring.
