Polymers | Creation of a polymer film facilitates differentiation between pure and PFA-blended PTFE via FTIR
The creation of a polymer film for a transmission measurement with Lyza 7000 allows to distinguish pure PTFE from PFA-blended PTFE for improved material characterization in industrial applications.
Why create films for FTIR measurements?
Even small amounts of PFA (perfluoroalkoxy alkanes) in a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) blend make a difference in the processability, mechanical properties and surface finish of the material.
Transmission measurements have a higher sensitivity than attenuated total reflectance (ATR) measurements, making them more suitable for the detection of compounds present at low levels.
This report examines the creation of a polymer film for more accurate detection of PFA content in PTFE with a Lyza 7000 transmission measurement.
