Emulation of Sieve Results
Dynamic image analysis with Litesizer DIA was used to test the functionality of the sieve emulation on wheat flour. This report describes the user interface processes to setup an emulation and validates the method with a real sample.
Litesizer DIA with the software Kalliope offers a modern and highly efficient alternative to traditional mechanical sieving for particle size determination. Unlike sieves, which separate materials through mesh apertures, Litesizer DIA analyzes each particle individually using high-resolution imaging and classifies them into user-defined size bins. This enables a direct measurement of sieve results while providing additional insights into particle morphology.
This approach offers several advantages:
• Faster results: sieving is labor-intensive and time-consuming.
• Higher precision and long-term repeatability: mechanical sieves wear out over time and lose accuracy.
• Improved working conditions: Litesizer DIA operates with minimal noise, whereas sieves require vigorous shaking and handling of materials.
