Powder Rheology 3: Powder and Air – Fluidizing Powder and Granular Media and the Impact on their Behavior

The third webinar in the webinar series on powder rheology focuses on the characterization of fluidized powders and granular media.

The behavior of bulk solids can change strongly when fluidized. The fluidization behavior will impact how they behave during many different processes like pneumatic transport, in fluidized bed reactors, tableting, and filling, but also during discharge from hoppers, silos, and bins. This behavior can be characterized with the Powder Cell from Anton Paar which combines the world of rheology with the world of particulate matter for quality control and R&D. This webinar will focus on how to measure fluidized powders in an MCR rheometer to study characteristics like deaeration and pressure drop behavior. A brief introduction to measuring permeability, tensile strength, and a powder’s shear-rate-dependent behavior rounds off this webinar on fluidized powders.
