Control your reaction: Particle size characterization of zeolite catalysts for fluid catalytic cracking (FCC)

Dwindling reaction rate, unplanned downtime, increasing production costs. All are consequences of an uncharacterized catalyst bed in the FCC reactor. High temperature and extensive physical stress lead to attrition, breakage and subsequently to deactivation of the catalytic core. Particle size characterization via laser diffraction offers a quick, easy way to monitor the state of the catalytic bed during production, as well as a way to characterize new reactor geometries in terms of catalyst consumption.
