Polymers | Crystallinity analysis of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) films derived from ASTM F2778–09
Crystallinity is a key parameter influencing PEEK’s mechanical strength, thermal resistance, and processing behavior. The Lyza FTIR spectrometer provides a fast and easy approach to assess the crystallinity of PEEK films based on ASTM F2778–09.
The crystallinity of PEEK significantly affects its mechanical, thermal, and processing properties. Higher crystallinity enhances tensile strength, stiffness, and thermal stability, making it ideal for high-temperature and structural applications. It also influences manufacturing processes like injection molding, extrusion, and 3D printing. Assessing crystallinity helps optimize PEEK for specific uses, ensuring performance and reliability. This report presents a fast and efficient method to assess PEEK crystallinity with FTIR in accordance to ASTM F2778–09 using a Lyza 7000 or Lyza 3000 spectrometer.
