Grease tribology – static and kinetic friction measurements on the MCR Tribometer

Greases are used in various fields such as automotive or aviation applications. They have to perform under ambient conditions but also under extreme conditions such as sub-zero temperatures. Tribological testing can help you to better understand and increase the performance of your grease. This webinar will focus on the tribological testing of greases at model and component level on an MCR Tribometer. It will be explained how to measure the friction over up to nine decades of sliding speed, capturing the static and the kinetic regime of friction. The webinar will be completed by rheological characterization of the greases.

The main topics will be:

  • Measuring the transition from static to kinetic friction
  • Extended Stribeck curves
  • Breakaway torque measurements
  • Ball bearing testing
