Rheology of cement-based materials

Beschreibung:

Cement-based materials are one of the most complicated rheological samples to work with due to the large range of particle sizes they contain. Flocculation and the ongoing chemical reaction between cement and water cause non-linear rheological behavior, strong time- and shear-dependency, and affect yield stress.

As a result, the execution and interpretation of rheological experiments on cement-based materials requires expertise, critical thinking, and significant preparation to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of the measurements.

This webinar will discuss the complexity of assessing rheological properties of cement-based materials, including:

  • The influence of variability in constituent elements and the sensitivity to critical mix design parameters and preparation procedures, including the complex behavior of air
  • Time and shear dependency of materials, both from a theoretical point of view, as well as from a practical perspective
  • Possible sources of error encountered during rheological testing, including the effect of shear-history, plug flow, and particle migration
