In the second entry of our four-part webinar series, Nicholas Chiknaikin from Pump & Flow Pty Ltd (Perth, Western Australia) talks to us about “The role of rheology in smarter tailings management”. This webinar will explore how rheological investigations transform slurry management from guesswork (liable to result in blocked pipelines, fast wearing pumps, and flat beaches) into safe, predictable, efficient design. We will discuss common test methods, and how laboratory data is applied to hydraulic calculations, and the critical role rheology plays in tailings storage performance.

Nicholas Chiknaikin is a Mechanical Engineer at Pump & Flow based in Bassendean, Western Australia.

Previously, Nicholas was a Project Engineer at St Barbara and also held positions at Gold Fields, Interquip Pty Ltd, Thiess, Sumatra Copper & Gold, WorleyParsons, QER Pty Ltd, Tarong Energy.

Nicholas received a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from The University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Queensland University of Technology.
