Course Description

The workshop will involve seminars covering both theoretical and practical aspects of rheology. 

Basics of Rheology / Viscosity

  • Rheology and viscous behaviour
  • Simple viscosity tests
  • Rheometers and measuring systems
  • Common definitions 

Rotational Rheology

  • Flow behaviour and yield point
  • Time-dependent behaviour (rotation)
  • Temperature-dependent behaviour (rotation)

Oscillatory / Dynamic Rheology

  • Viscoelastic behaviour
  • Definitions: shear strain, deformation, shear modulus
  • Amplitude and frequency sweeps
  • Time-dependent behaviour (oscillation)
  • Temperature-dependent behaviour (oscillation)

Jan Haeberle

Dr. Jan Haeberle is a product specialist for rheometry at Anton Paar Germany, where he provides customers worldwide with application-specific and technical support. He did his PhD in Experimental Physics at the German Aerospace Center in Cologne and holds a Masters degree from the University of Edinburgh.
